General Ecology Inc.'s First Need® portable water purifiers were evaluated for their ability to remove microbiological contaminants according to the current EPA Standard and Protocol for Testing Microbiological Water Purifiers.
It is the only non-chemical water purifier certified to EPA Guide Standard for Microbiological Purification against bacteria, cysts and viruses.

Summary of Test Results with First Need tested at University of Arizona to the Current EPA Guidelines
The systems were operated for 100% of the rated capacity and challenged periodically with high concentrations of bacteria, cysts and viruses. At the 60%, 75%, 90% and 100% test points the units were challenged with "worst case" water according to the protocol. Additionally, the systems were allowed to stagnate for 48 hours after the 50%, 75% and 100% test points to demonstrate that no microbiological growth through the cartridge occurred.

Conclusion:
The First Needsystems met the
